Prayer and Nurturing
..... pray for each other so that you may be healed. At the forefront of our programs is the care and nurturing of our members and our prayers for those in need. THE DEACONSOur Deacons' programs are extensive and far reaching. They visit the shut-ins
and arrange for emergency transportation for those in need. A favorite program
is the exam-time cookie packages for our college freshmen. On a more visible
note, the Deacons prepare and serve the coffee for our Sunday morning
fellowship time, set up Communion and arrange for our greeters and ushers. OUR PRAYER CHAINA chain is comprised of strong individual interlocking links --- each supporting
the other. So fashioned, it can lift up, anchor, and tie together, whatever its
purpose. Our prayer chain functions in much the same way. The prayer chain,
which involves over 175 members, quickly spreads (via phone and email) the word
so we might, as a body, provide prayers of intercession for those in need and
prayers of praise for especially good occurrences. SMALL GROUPSIn addition to the support and nurture received through participation in many of
the formal church programs, many members belong to small groups that meet for
fellowship, learning and spiritual support. Some of these groups have been
on-going for more than a decade while others are more recently formed. Then
again, others are formed for a short term study program. The small groups are
comprised of both individuals and couples. Through them, friendships are formed
and spiritual lives are enriched as participants share themselves and their
faith. There is always room for you. SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIESWe care of each other in many other ways, also. A group meets every Sunday to pray for the church. There is an opportunity during each church service for members to share their concerns and praise and to join together in prayer. Cards are provided in the chair racks for everyone to send messages of encouragement to others. Those who are in need of an extra touch of intercessory prayer gather under the cross after the worship service |
