Life and Fellowship of the Congregation

But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another.....
                                                                                                                                                   I John 1:7

Fellowship is the lifeblood of Webster Presbyterian Church. An important aspect of our Sunday mornings is the fellowship which takes place when we meet over coffee between services. When we celebrated 25 years in this “new” facility in October 1994, many reminisced that the large narthex and the proximity of the social room were designed to accommodate this aspect of our life.

The programs of PWC (Presbyterian Women in the Congregation) and PMF (Presbyterian Men's Fellowship) do much to foster this facet of our congregational life. But fellowship is not just for the adult members of our church. The Junior and Senior High Fellowships are important in the life of our young people.

FAMILY FELLOWSHIP EVENTS

Most, but not all, of the family fellowship events are family suppers which have taken on some theme. A Family Pot-Luck supper often kicks off the year in September. We have a Harvest Celebration Dinner in the Fall. This is followed by a Christmas Welcoming Dinner for our CIH (Christmas International House) students. We would be remiss if we didn't have a Family Picnic in June to wind down the year. Special events are also organized by our PYP (Parents of Young Presbyterians), a group of parents who have elementary-aged children or younger.

Some events have a more serious theme. The annual CROP WALK in May of each year is very popular with our families. Everyone can get involved in this, either by walking or pledging to those that do walk. This has really become a town-wide event that raises money for worldwide hunger relief. While not billed as family events, the Spring and Fall church work days, sponsored by the Trustees, have become just that. Many of the teenagers come out with their parents to help refurbish and spruce up our building and property.

ADULT FELLOWSHIP EVENTS

The Adult Clam Bake in the early Fall is a once a year opportunity for everyone to stuff themselves on lobster - steak - chicken - clams - fresh corn with lots of trimmings and dessert. Of course, this includes a steaming bowl of WPC gourmet fish chowder. All this and plenty of fellowship at a price well within everyone's means. THE start of the Holiday Season is the Adult Christmas Party. Some years, this has been a full costume event. The meal always has a gourmet flavor followed by an original skit and very special [fun] music.
